Oomii Kids is a small, bright brand built around one simple idea: the best play comes from the child, not the toy. We make open-ended craft and pretend-play gear, and we give away a growing library of free printables, so the imagining is always the main event.
What we are about
Walk into most toy aisles and the toys do all the talking. They light up, they make the noises, they tell the child exactly what to do and when. The child watches. We wanted the opposite: simple, beautiful things that sit quietly until a child picks them up and decides what they are today.
A cape turns a tidy lounge room into a rescue mission. A play scarf becomes a river one minute and a superhero cloak the next. A pretend campfire brings the great outdoors inside on a rainy afternoon. The gear is just the spark. The story is all theirs.
Why open-ended play
When children lead their own play, they are doing a lot more than passing the time. They plan, they solve problems on the fly, they invent rules and negotiate them with a friend. They practise telling stories with a beginning, a middle and a triumphant end.
None of that needs a screen or a set of instructions. It needs a little space, a few good props and the freedom to make it up as they go. That is the kind of play we design for, and the kind our free Play Journal and printables are here to help with.
